Transfer School - Secondary

Lately been having thoughts of transferring my older child into another Secondary School.

Went online in search of others view in this area of transferring school request and have found nothing much on it. However, I did came across one page on a forum that mentioned about a transfer that was placed and took one year for the transfer to be processed by MOE. I am shocked and sad to know that it takes so long for a request to be processed through MOE.

Seeing that I am not going any where with clearing my doubts on the procedure to request for transfer of school, I called MOE to equire.

MOE Customer Service told me that to request for a transfer I need to approach the school myself. If the school have place, the child have to take a placement test. So I asked, "MOE don't step in to help?" There wasn't a direct reply back as to "NO"  from the Customer Service. She just reply as MOE only help if there is a change in address. I am rolling my eyes with anger already but didn't say anything but ok and hang up the phone.

Now I know! Guess MOE is of no help regardless what reason you may want to request for a transfer school unless you move from one place to another in Singapore. This have also given me another view of, if you insist of transferring school, go move into another house.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is around the corner! This year is a Goat year.

During this time of the year, spring cleaning always comes in for every household. This is a common practice that everyone do a thorough cleaning to bring in a new year for good luck through out the whole year. I am no exception to this practice as well.

In addition, many are busy with getting ready to invite the Chinese New Year with goodies and getting ready for stuff to be used for the Reunion Dinner. Some of the goodies that must have during Chinese New Year for visitors will include bak kwa (pork jerk), pineapple tarts, kuih bulu, love letters, etc. As for Reunion Dinner, some of the must have is abalone, scallop, mushrooms, fatt choy, fish, etc.

For me, as usual, we always head down to factory at Woodlands to get our bak kwa. For past few years, we have been getting our bak kwa from Fragrance on and off. This year, we are trying out New Peng Hiang 新品香. We got to know this brand of Bak Kwa from Singapore Expo Food Fair. We bought 500g from them as it was only $10.00 at the Food Fair and it tasted real good. Thus, we purchase from them this year as it is cheap at $20.00 for 500g. Have yet to try how real good it taste during Chinese New Year season.

While shopping at the factory area at Woodlands, we also drop in to other factory that are selling steamboat stuff and goodies. This year, the price of the goodies are way too pricy. I noticed for a bottle of pineapple at factory can cost up to $15.00 and other goodies are almost at that price if not, it will be $2.00 or $3.00 lesser than that price. I refuse to pay that price for such goodies seeing that I am able to make it myself. Thus, I am behind the oven making goodies myself.

As for Reunion Dinner, we initially was discussing to having it outside. However, after doing some research online, I noticed that having a Reunion Dinner outside may not be a good idea coz it seems to be in a rush to have to complete the meal. In addition, for the price I am paying for a Reunion Dinner, don't expect every dish to be what you want. So might as well have it at home. For one, we don't have to rush through the meal and pay the price for a costly dinner we would not enjoy. This means, I will be having fun behind the stove and sweating my butts off.

Well, do hope that this year Chinese New Year will bring me good luck and smooth throught out the year.

Korea Drama - 49 Days

Korean Drama is craze right now!

Everybody or almost everybody is onto Korean Drama these days. I must say that Korean actors and actress that are shown in some of the Korean Drama truly is handsome and pretty. No wonder it is a craze right now. I am not usually a big fan of Korea Drama but when the story line catch me, it will draw my attention to catch on to the episodes.

Thus far, I have only seen really two Korea Drama that have interested me.

1. My Ugly Sweetie - Funny Drama with a kick out of it

2. 49 Days  - Sad Drama

This 49 days Drama truly is a meaning one. It is about this girl who have all in her life. A happy and loving family and friends that are close to her. When she ran into an accident and was in coma and her spirit left her body. She bumped into a man who is a death collector. He told her that in order for her spirit to return back to her body, she needs to collect 3 pure tears in 49 days from those who loved her truly and these 3 tears are not to be from parents or siblings. In order to complete this process, the death collector told her that she can borrow a body during this time and she have to earn her own money to get through this 49 days. During this process of 49 days she also came to realize who are her true friend who stand close to her in time of need and who have already betrayed her. A rather sad ending but it is sure worth watching.

Awesome portal - Toggle SG

I have been hooked on Toggle SG for some time. Am very happy to say that this is an awesome way for Singaporeans to catch up with programs by Media Corp. This is especially good for those who are overseas and want to catch some home town programs that would make them feel at home even though they are far away from home. I also find it very useful to be able to catch up with local news to keep in touch with things that are happening back home which I have missed especially the news that is on Channel 8.

Previously there was a site called XinMSN that is similar to Toggle SG which allows you to catch up on missed television programs by Media Corp. However, after some time, this portal seems dead without any further updates especially for the Channel 8 news 6:30pm which I love catching.

So if you are not on Toggle SG, you'd better sign up for it coz it is FREE. You get to catch up with many programs online. For those who are overseas, you too can get onto Toggle SG too. You just need to change some settings by adding your identification number to identify that you are a Singaporean and you are all set to watch the programs. I do hope that this portal would continue to be kept alive and updated at all times so that television craze like me can always catch up with missed programs where ever and when ever.
